Greetings-

ManagerEdge is a growing consortium of managers, senior staff engineers and execs from the technology industry in Silicon Valley.  As you will see, there are a number of advantages to becoming an associate that other organizations do not or can not address in as effective a manner.

Associates are focused on professional development for senior engineering talent  in the following  functional areas:  software, firmware and hardware development, field engineering, system engineering, homologation engineering, development quality assurance  (but not manufacturing quality), advanced manufacturing engineering, technical support staff engineering, and professional services engineering.  An engineering degree (e.g. CS, EE) is nominally required for these areas.

The association allows candidates to join from any other supporting functional areas such as human resources or marketing as long as they adhere to the focus on the core constituent of technical talent and support that emphasis.  Those non-engineering associates usually belong to other networking organizations that focus on their own discipline's professional development.

The ManagerEdge Association evolved from a group of job seekers to a networking group of associates in Silicon Valley wishing to exchange work related information for everyone's professional advantage.  In our forums, you will not see the same kind of traffic you find on much larger networking sites which ranges from inappropriate job leads to requests for the best dog salon in Texas.  Our focus on engineering management allows us our advantage. What  we want is  local input from associates in the know about career opportunities in high technology to discussions on how to solve particular business or technical issues.

So our goals in professional networking address both performance and tools on the job as well as recruiting for the job.  Associates can indicate their interest level in finding work by publishing a profile and well as seeking associates to work for them by publishing a job opening.  By making their contact information available, members are indicating an interest in conducting business, taking solicitations, and announcing availability.  Associates may keep their profile private to indicate no current interest in seeking work and participate in the association's other forums.  The terms and conditions for operating the association and its forums serve to protect the privacy and control the use of any associate's information.

The association supports several ways to network in person.  The intent is not to have a virtual group and  recognizes that networking is built on relationships which are reinforced by meeting on a regular basis.  The main monthly general meeting  is held once a month.  See meeting page for more information. Speakers often supplement the roundtable discussion that is mainstay of the association.

A percentage of the associates may be periodically unemployed and associates actively support each other in pursuit of their next job and exchange the latest info on the employment market.

In addition, the association hosts other events including a Sunday Bar-B-Q a few times a year.    The location for the Bar-B-Q is  generally at an associate's home and is an fun way to further networking outside of the busy workweek,

There are a number of benefits to joining the association...

   1. First and foremost, the association allows you to network  with others that share your focus on issues important to senior engineering talent and management.
   2. Provides an opportunity for general professional development in association operations, speaking opportunities, technical forums, etc.
   3. Provides an source of ideas and pointers to other professional resources and meetings.
   4. Provides a forum to bounce ideas off of a group with years of management and engineering experience.
   5. Provides an opportunity to recruit and seek employment in these technical areas.
   6.  Use of a manageredge.org personalized e-mail address.

You will find the associates in the ManagerEdge Association are a creative group and  always willing to try new things.   The leadership is in the hands of a three (3) person operating council, but things get done because the associates work together.

If you have additional questions, just drop us a note at info@manageredge.org and send us your contact information.  See you at the next meeting!

Best regards,

The ManagerEdge Association Council.
